These beautiful “pencil-thin” beeswax tapers made from 100% pure beeswax, are the typical “$1 candle” size found in most Orthodox Churches today (which is also why we call them #1’s). They are approximately 11” long and vary between 5/16” and 3/8” thick at the base since they are dipped tapers. Because they are thin, they don’t fit a traditional candle holder, so a special one may be needed. We sell these beeswax candles by the pound – a pound will have between 30-38 candles. Wondering why the candles have a whitish film? This is “bloom”. Bloom is a whitish snowflake looking film that develops over truly pure beeswax.
This is a sign of purity and is esteemed by beeswax connoisseurs. If the beeswax has been adulterated with other kinds of wax, it cannot develop this bloom. Don’t like the look of bloom? You can polish your candles and remove the bloom if you like, simply buff the candles with a soft cloth or nylon stocking.

Candle burning suggestions: Keep the candles out of drafts such as open windows or near fans and they will burn beautifully.
